Every town in Sicily has an appointed saint, so for each location we did a little research. St. Agatha is the patron saint of Catania and also naturally of breast cancer survivors. Having devoted herself to God and declaring to remain a virgin, she rejected advances made by a local prefect. This lead to her being brutally tortured, of which included the removal of her breasts (though they were later restored during a visit from St. Peter). We were constantly reminded of her as a very popular Italian sweet is the Cassatella di sant'Agata, a rendition of Agatha's decapeted breasts....but are green?
